Upstore Premium Review 2026: Speed Test, JD2 Setup & Free Tier Limits

Tested: May 2026 · Plans: €16 (1 month) to €99/year · Daily traffic: 20 GB premium / 6 GB free

Upstore is a smaller premium file host that turns up as a mirror on link sites next to bigger names like Rapidgator and DDownload. We bought a premium account, ran the same multi-part archive through Chrome and JDownloader 2, and measured the free tier on an identical file for comparison.

Short answer: Upstore premium reached 47.90 MiB/s combined in JDownloader 2 across four active downloads, and ~21.4 MB/s combined across three parallel Chrome downloads. But there’s a catch that decides whether it’s worth it: like DDownload, Upstore allows only one connection (1 chunk) per file. Speed comes entirely from running several files at once, not from accelerating a single one.

Tested May 2026 on a 4-part RAR archive (~3.8 GiB total). All figures are from our own downloads.

Premium speed in JDownloader 2

Our main test queued four files (~3.8 GiB total) and ran them simultaneously.

Result: 47.90 MiB/s combined, with the average settling at 41.66 MiB/s and current throughput peaking at 47.12 MiB/s. Per-file speeds: 14.00, 8.46, 12.24, and 12.73 MiB/s.

JDownloader 2 running four Upstore Premium files at a combined 47.906 MiB/s. Note the Connection column: [1] on every row.

We repeated the same four-file test a second time to check consistency. That run settled at 43.997 MiB/s combined, with individual files at 14.30, 7.27, 11.65, and 12.47 MiB/s.

Second four-file run: 43.997 MiB/s combined. Per-file speed varies more than the total — a pattern also seen on DDownload.

The two runs (47.90 MiB/s and 43.997 MiB/s) land close enough together that we’d call ~44–48 MiB/s combined a realistic expectation for four parallel Upstore Premium downloads, not a one-off best case.

Premium speed in the browser

Upstore held up well in Chrome, both alone and with multiple files running at once.

A single premium download reached 8.3 MB/s, climbing to around 8.7 MB/s later in the same session.

We then queued three files at once. They ran at 8.8, 6.7, and 6.6 MB/s — a combined ~21.4 MB/s.

Browser vs JD2 verdict: JD2 was faster in aggregate (47.90 MiB/s vs ~21.4 MB/s), but the gap is mostly because we only ran three browser tabs versus four JD2 downloads. If you’re not using a download manager, Upstore is still one of the more usable hosts we’ve tested in Chrome alone.

Free membership: what you actually get

Upstore’s free tier is cleaner than most file hosts we’ve tested — we did not see aggressive pop-ups or fake download buttons during this session. The catch, as always, is speed and friction.

Every free download starts with a countdown. The page advertises this as a “wait” step; our timer measured 52 seconds before the hCaptcha unlocked.

“Please wait 52 seconds before downloading or… become Premium and download without waiting.” A live comparison of free vs premium limits sits directly below the timer.

After the countdown, an hCaptcha challenge stands between you and the final link.

“I am human” — hCaptcha required before the download link is generated. Estimated download time shown as 3 hours free vs 2 minutes premium, for the same 857.97 MB file.

Once unlocked, the download itself crawled at 84.8 KB/s in our test.

Upstore free download running at 84.8 KB/s — an estimated 3 hours for an 858 MB file that took 2 minutes on premium.

Full free-tier restrictions, confirmed against Upstore’s own comparison table:

  • ~84.8 KB/s measured download speed
  • 52-second wait plus hCaptcha before each download
  • No parallel downloads — one file, one thread
  • 2 GB maximum file size for both downloads and uploads
  • 6 GB daily traffic allowance
  • Limited lifetime storage, plus an additional age-verification step in places

Verdict on the free tier: usable for very small files or to confirm a link is alive. Not usable for anything you actually want to sit through.

Setting up Upstore in JDownloader 2

Setup worked, but it wasn’t quite as frictionless as some other hosts we’ve tested — there’s one extra manual step.

Step 1 — Open Settings → Account Manager → Add, then search “upstore.net”. It appears with “Username is e-mail” in the Typ/Features column, meaning login uses your email address rather than a username.

Step 2 — Enter your credentials and save. Unlike DDownload, which verified instantly in our test, Upstore triggered a manual captcha challenge to confirm the account.

JDownloader 2 prompting for a captcha to verify the Upstore premium account login
“Enter Captcha for upstore.net to continue!” — a one-time hurdle during account verification that we didn’t see on some other hosts.

Step 3 — After solving the captcha, JD2 confirmed the account.

“Verified logins: Premium Account” — confirmation appears once the captcha step is cleared.

This extra captcha step is a minor point of friction compared to hosts that verify instantly, but it’s a one-time setup cost, not something you repeat on every download.

Daily traffic: 20 GB per day (premium)

Upstore’s official limits, confirmed on its own FAQ and support pages: free/guest accounts get 6,000 MB (6 GB) per 24 hours, premium accounts get 20,000 MB (20 GB) per 24 hours. Maximum file size is 2 GB for free users and 5 GB for premium uploads.

Watch for: this is a smaller daily allowance than budget-friendly competitors like DDownload’s 200 GB/day. If your usage is heavy, Upstore’s cap will bind well before DDownload’s does.

Payment options are broad for a host this size: Visa/Mastercard (two separate processors), Visa-only, a crypto-friendly Visa/Mastercard option, PayPal (standard and crypto), plus dedicated cryptocurrency, e-money, and reseller options. There’s also a “pay from balance” option offering a 20% discount for pre-funded accounts.

One quirk worth flagging: Upstore lists “age confirmed during the payment” as a premium feature, meaning some checkout flows include an age-verification step you may not expect at the payment page.

Our recommendation: start with the 1-month plan. Confirm your target links are actually mirrored on Upstore and that the 20 GB/day cap covers your usage before committing to a longer plan.

Customer support

We could not find any live chat option for Upstore, publicly or during our test. Support runs through email (support@upstore.net) and a ticket system on the site itself. There’s no published response-time guarantee.

If you see a review claiming 24/7 live chat for Upstore, treat that claim with the same caution we applied to similar claims about DDownload — we found no evidence of it.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • 47.90 MiB/s combined in JDownloader 2 across four parallel files, confirmed across two separate test runs
  • ~21.4 MB/s combined across three parallel Chrome downloads — no download manager required
  • Free download page was cleaner than many ad-heavy hosts, with no pop-ups seen in our test
  • Broad range of payment options, including crypto and a pay-from-balance discount
  • Useful as a secondary account if your target files are hosted on Upstore mirrors

Cons

  • 1 connection per file — a single large file cannot be accelerated no matter what you configure
  • JD2 account verification required an extra manual captcha step in our test
  • Free tier: 84.8 KB/s, a 52-second wait, and a 2 GB file-size cap
  • Daily traffic is capped at 20 GB premium — noticeably lower than budget competitors like DDownload (200 GB)
  • No live chat support found; email/ticket only
  • File availability depends entirely on uploader mirrors

Who should buy Upstore premium?

Buy it if:

  • Your downloads come as queues of several files rather than one large file
  • You mostly download in a browser without a dedicated download manager
  • You need a cheap secondary account to cover mirror links your primary host doesn’t carry
  • 20 GB/day comfortably covers your usage

Skip it if:

  • You mostly download single large files — the 1-connection limit caps you at roughly 8 MB/s no matter what you pay
  • You need more than 20 GB/day — look at DDownload or Rapidgator instead
  • You want fast support — email/ticket only, no live chat
  • You were hoping the free tier would be workable for anything beyond tiny files

Verdict

Rating: 7.5/10

Upstore is a solid secondary host, not a primary one. At €0.27–0.48/day depending on plan length, and 47.90 MiB/s in JD2 across four parallel files, it performs better than its smaller profile suggests.

But that number depends on the same condition that governs DDownload: you need multiple files running at once. The 1-connection limit means a single large file sits at roughly 8 MB/s regardless of plan, and the 20 GB/day cap is modest next to cheaper high-volume competitors.

Test it with the shortest plan first if your target files are hosted there. If your downloads are typically single large files, or you need more than 20 GB/day, put your money into DDownload or Rapidgator instead.

Frequently asked questions

How fast is Upstore premium?
In our May 2026 test, 47.90 MiB/s combined in JDownloader 2 across four parallel files (repeated at 43.997 MiB/s in a second run), and around 21.4 MB/s across three parallel Chrome downloads. A single file reached 8.3–8.7 MB/s.

Why is my Upstore premium download slow?
Most likely the 1-connection limit. Upstore allows only one connection per file, so a single large file cannot be accelerated. Queue several files simultaneously instead, and raise “max simultaneous downloads” in JD2 rather than “max chunks.”

Does Upstore work with JDownloader 2?
Yes. Our premium account was verified using email + password login, though JD2 required an extra manual captcha step to confirm the account before downloads started.

What is Upstore’s daily traffic limit?
20 GB (20,000 MB) per 24 hours for premium accounts, 6 GB for free/guest accounts, per Upstore’s own FAQ.

Is the Upstore free tier usable?
Only for very small files. We measured 84.8 KB/s with a 52-second wait plus hCaptcha before each download, and a 2 GB maximum file size.

How much does Upstore premium cost?
€16 for 1 month (+3 bonus days), up to €99 for 1 year (about €0.27/day). Daily traffic is 20 GB on all plans.

Is Upstore better than DDownload?
DDownload offers 10x the daily traffic (200 GB vs 20 GB) at a similar price point, and both share the same 1-connection-per-file restriction. Upstore is worth having as a secondary account specifically for links DDownload and Rapidgator don’t mirror. → Compare alternatives
